The Hawaii Bottomfish Fishery website is a joint effort of the three agencies responsible for bottomfish management in the Hawaii Archipelago—the Western Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Council, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries) and the Hawaii Department of Land & Natural Resource’s Division of Aquatic Resources. The three agencies are working cooperatively to keep the public informed about the reasons for and the progress toward instituting a new management regime for bottomfish in the main Hawaiian Islands. Fishermen, the seafood industry, restaurants, local and visiting consumers, and other members of the public are an integral part of developing the new management regime and will be afforded a number of opportunities to provide feedback.during the decision-making process.
